Upper Cumberland Autism
Support Group
Meets Saturday, April 24, 10:00-12:00
at Algood United Methodist Church,
135 W. Main Street, Algood. Topic: We’ll
view and discuss the PBS documentary film Refrigerator Mothers
(2003), which explores the legacy of blame, guilt, and self-doubt
suffered by a generation of mothers with autistic children.
Learn more about parents who raised their autistic children
in an era when mothers were mistakenly thought to be responsible
for causing their children’s disability.
The Upper Cumberland Autism Support Group is designed to provide
information and local support for families of people with
Autistic Spectrum Disorders in the Upper Cumberland Region.
Our goal is to be a non-profit organization of parents, professionals,
and other volunteers dedicated to the education and welfare
of persons with autism and related disorders.
Childcare is available if you call ahead.
