Apple Lease Program 2011 -  Check this page for updates and info.

Tips for a smooth transition from an original Leased Laptop (2008 model) to new MacBook (2011 model):

  •  BACKUP your existing User Data and Documents to help facilitate a smooth transition to the new laptop deployment.  **Actually this a best-practice for any computer user.**
  • Download this PDF -- How To Back Up Your Files -- a simple guide that provides an overview of creating and implementing a "BACKUP" plan for your user data.
  • Remember, all 400 originally assigned Apple Lease Laptops in 2008 were distributed with an agreement form and was signed upon acceptance -- please review your copy of that form if necessary.  Among other things, the agreement called for the laptop and accessories (power adapter, video adapter - "dongle", and box) to be returned when deemed appropriate.  Each teacher will need to "Turn-In" these items with your assigned laptop at the designated collection time for your school.  Failure to return those items will result in a delay in the transfer process, and possibly will require reimbursement or replacement of the missing and/or damaged items.

FAQ's:

  1. Will the new laptop be compatible with all of my programs?
  • A: Possibly.  The 2011 model is loaded with Mac OS 10.7.2 "Lion".  This operating system completely removed support for "Classic" applications.  Thus, some older and out of date applications will not run on this OS.  However, the vast majority of standard software is compatible and runs quite well as we've conducted thorough testing at this point.
  • Check back for additional FAQ's in the near future.....
