Jump Start Your Brain with Breakfast in Cane Creek’s Cub Cafe

Did you know that students are more attentive, retain information better, have increased attendance and less visits to school nurse when they have eaten breakfast?  Well, it is true and Cane Creek Elementary is serious about students eating breakfast before they go into class each day.  “Jump Start Your Brain” is a collaborative effort involving school administration, faculty and school nutrition employees.  The goal is to make sure every student is “jump-started” and ready to learn.  The initiative began on September 12th following an informative letter to parents and breakfast participation immediately increased 27%. Part of the fun will continue with “Guess Who is Coming to Breakfast”?  Students will have special guests beginning with kick-off on September 30th and continuing after fall break for 3 more consecutive Friday mornings.  Can you “Guess Who is Coming to Breakfast”?  Stay tuned…….to find out

Dr. Kathleen Airhart is Cane Creek's second guest for "Guess Who is Coming to Breakfast"

Fresh For Less

Did you know that your Putnam County School student could buy any fresh fruit or vegetable for thirty five cents?  Yes, you heard it correctly, 35 cents!  While very few items in our world can be purchased for a that anymore, Putnam County’s School Food Service Program remains committed to assisting in developing healthy eating patterns.  We all know that fresh fruits and vegetables are expensive at the grocery store and therefore a lot of children in our school district do not have access.  Beginning July 31, 2010 students can pick fresh choices at breakfast and lunch as part of their meal pattern and also purchase extras for 35 cents!   So help us out and encourage your children to eat wisely and spend wisely!

The Standards visit Putnam students

Nashville brothers and vocal harmonists “The Standards” provided a special message to ATMS, Uffelman and Baxter Elementary students about loving your body, moving your body and fueling your body.  The five Williams brothers provide a high energy interactive show that gets everyone singing, clapping and moving.  The tout their performances as “Music with a Message” and Principal Mike Meihls from ATMS stated  "The Standards" did a great job at ATMS, they were entertaining, excellent musicians, great with the students and conveyed an awesome message of self-worth and proper nutrition.
