What we can do for employers

Helping Workers & Companies in the new Millennium through Lifelong Learning.

Employers need employees who have essential Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSAs):

  • Dependability
  • Following Instructions
  • Getting along with others
  • Doing the right thing (work ethics)
  • Accurately working
  • Working as a team
  • Cooperating
  • Listening
  • Talking respectfully
  • Following standard procedures
  • Having a GED
  • Quality in the workplace

These KSAs were identified as a part of the Tennessee a Workforce Department project sponsored by the Tennessee State Department of Education, Department of Human Services, and the Department of Labor.

Services Available:

  • Pre-Hire Assessment
  • Basic Skills Improvement
  • Job or Skill specific training
  • Technology/Computer Skills
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • English as a Second Language

Programs Available:

Basic Skills:    Basic reading and math classes.

GED Preparation:      Classes in writing, math, reading, and test taking skills.

Academic Refresher Courses:  Reading, writing, and math classes to prepare for entrance exams or employment upgrades.

ESOL Classes:  To teach English to speakers of other languages.

Community Education:  Beginning and intermediate computer skills (fee required).  Classes offered are determined by community demand.

Workforce Development:  Classes are tailored to company needs.

To help you determine what classes may be needed, consider the following questions:

  1. What company goals or performance standards are not being met?
  2. Are there projected changes in the business that will add new goals or modify current standards for your employees?
  3. What are the skills needed to perform effectively in particular jobs now and over the next five years?
  4. If a work force program is set up, what results are expected?
  5. What evidence would indicate that these results have been achieved?

The Workforce Competency Check:

  • Careless accidents occur even when warning signs are clearly posted.
  • Employees use poor grammar skills.
  • Frequent math errors occur in reports, invoices, and other data.
  • Company morale could use a boost.
  • A high employee turnover rate is affecting productivity and profit margins.

If you have checked any of the statements above, we can help you!
